You’ve obtained training and certifications and invested precious time and money to create a future in the most rewarding field out there. You should be able to succeed and thrive in this industry. With the LNMT skill set you can set yourself apart as a unique practitioner that gets results, fast.
Consider what Laser NeuroMuscular Therapy™ principals are based on. These are the conditions that you can greatly help. We all experience them and know others who share these ailments:
Pain – laser is FDA approved for temporary relief of pain. However, in some cases pain can be immediately reduced or eliminated completely and permanently. A Trigger Point is due to a neuro signal that causes the capillaries to constrict resulting in pain, tension, restricted range of motion, etc. The laser interrupts this neuro signal causing vaso dilation, thus relieving the constriction and tight bands of muscle. To put it simply, the laser helps reset neuromuscular function allowing the muscle to receive fresh blood and O2 and accelerates reproduction of cells to restore tissue.
Inflammation (Itis) – Arthritis, Tendonitis, and Bursitis can often be greatly reduced with laser as it tends to decrease pain and increase circulation. It also enhances lymphatic flow to remove waste and spent cells and replenish the area utilizing natural, finely calibrated photon energy that can rejuvenate and soothe the region.
Wound healing – laser has been shown to cut healing time considerably. This is why it is so popular in Equine and Veterinary applications. Laser therapy has been used in Europe and Russia for decades. Finally it is becoming mainstream in the US. Dentists have known of the healing qualities of violet laser for decades and Low Level Laser Therapy has become routine in many chiropractic offices.
For the Massage Therapist and Body Worker perhaps the most important physiological benefit is how the laser resuscitates the Mitochondria therefore producing more ATP. ATP is the energy molecule of the body. It is needed for the Actin/Myosin bond to allow muscle contraction and function. Flooding a trigger point or tight band with ATP can help release the trigger point faster and also decrease the pain signal to the brain. When cells build up enough ATP (energy) they split and multiply. The result is healthy new cells generated at a rapid rate. The Laser photon donates energy to the cells. This charges the cell up and causes the cell to open an ion channel or pore to dump toxins. Cells that are sick and full of toxins have difficulty receiving fresh nutrients and oxygen. When they expel toxic waste and fat they can take in fresh nutrients and O2. Cells have a cytoskeleton that can get stretched or become ill or deformed. This can be seen under dark field microscopy. Cells appear bent or crumpled and often smashed together. When given a “bath” of photons these cells will form a more natural shape in the membrane and space themselves to better function and communicate. This is akin to a chiropractic adjustment or structural alignment for the cytoskeleton.
As a Massage Therapist or NMT you already know how to find trigger points and tight muscles. If you apply LNMT to what you already practice you will likely see even greater results. With proper training you will quickly become proficient using and demonstrating laser. Offering Self Care Presentations will give you exposure to the community and bring in new clients. Many people will be interested in Self Care. People are looking for an alternative to expensive health care, drugs and surgery. When you sell a laser to your patient or client they tell everyone about the laser and these word of mouth referrals are effective advertising. Most therapists recover the cost of their laser in just a couple months. You can specialize in sports, pain, pets, equine, wellness, plantar fasciitis, TMJ disorder, auto and personal injury, etc. There is no limit.
While this technology may seem new it has actually been around for decades. It will catch on in the massage industry too. You will want to be there first. LNMT can help as you serve others.
